PAUSE AND PONDER:
Will any of these descriptive words for places stir up
your imagination for the next scene?
This place seems to be attractive , calm, enchanting but
not desolate as you can see houses. It is picturesque (scenic) but not bustling
(full of life). It is not unspoiled (not touched by man). It’s definitely not
bleak , boring or polluted.
List out some more adjectives to describe this place
The place seems to be clean and attractive. Human
activity has polluted cities and people look for cleaner places when they have
to go on a vacation. Recently it was in news that the sky looks clear and the
pollution levels have dropped in Delhi thanks to the lock down. Similarly
Yamuna has got a breather as it looks cleaner now because of zero industrial
waste. SDG 15 (life on land ) aims to ensure the conservation, restoration and
sustainable use of terrestrial and inland fresh water ecosystems …..The lock
down has been a blessing in
disguise for our natural resources.
Now study this sample and copy it in your language
notebook:
Sample -Descriptive Paragraph of a Bus Stop
The scene at the bus stop is quite chaotic. Spread out over
the passenger area there are a large number of commuters. They all look weary
and everybody seems preoccupied with their own thoughts. Some are anxious as
they walk up and down the pavement waiting for the bus to arrive. Some buses
are late maybe because of the down pour. People exchange some comments about
the unpredictable weather. Nobody laughs. Only the innocent children and
hawkers are enjoying their time. The hawkers selling their wares have found
profitable income in the crowd. The hustle and bustle increases as the bus
arrives and people make a bee line to enter. Everybody is in a hurry to get in
or move out. The passengers seem to be packed like sardines and finally the bus
drags away from the stop. The bus stop looks deserted after the bus has left and
the hawkers take a momentary break.
