DESCRIBING
AN EVENT:
An event is something that happens, especially when it is unusual or important. Events could be a concert, a sports event or a family gathering
At
the end of this lesson you will be able to
Describe an event , in the desired format, by
arranging the details logically and using adjectives that make the paragraph
Identify the relevant idiom and make sentences
Your aim would be to ;
Use vivid details involving the sense of smell
taste sight touch etc to make the reader feel as if they themselves are present
at the event. Use of figures of speech
spices up your writing, making it deliciously interesting by comparing the
details you are describing to something well known, thus teasing the readers’
imagination.
JUST TO
REMIND YOU ;
- Brainstorm before you begin and get your list of details ready to use.
- Organize all your details into proper order as you want them to appear.
- Begin with a topic sentence to draw attention of the readers.
- Construct the details for the body of the paragraph.
- Give a proper ending.
- Keep to the word limit.
THE FOLLOWING ORDER FOR EVENTS WILL HELP YOU :
1.What event / celebration you
attended
2.What preparations [ costumes
, food etc] are made before the event
3.What happened at the event
,what you saw, heard etc
4.How you felt
You can use linking words to
connect the sentences and maintain a logical sequence: in addition to, moreover, although, in fact, therefore etc are some
linking words

We
will discuss a sample and adjectives in the next class
